Too many Vietnam War veterans discovered themselves in a new war when they returned stateside and were treated with scorn. The Veterans Multi-Service Center was founded as one of 23 national programs designed to meet the needs of Vietnam veterans and has since grown to serve all veterans. Homelessness, hunger, incarceration, mental illness, drug abuse and unemployment are all problems that plague veterans; the Veterans Multi-Service Center is the only nonprofit organization in the Philadelphia region offering comprehensive services to help them get back on track.
