Employment and Training Services


Over 5,000 square feet of VMC’s headquarters is designated for employment and training, where eligible Veterans acquire the necessary skills to compete for demanding positions in local industries.


Our training programs are designed with the current job market in mind to allow Veterans to acquire the necessary skills to compete for demanding positions and to earn a livable wage. 


 Each Veteran enrolled in the employment and training program is assigned a job developer/case manager, assisting Veterans with the ultimate goal, finding employment.

 The following training programs are offered free of charge to eligible Veterans:


  • ServSafe Food Safety Management Certification Training - A 2-Day, 16 hour training class provided by VMC preparing veterans for the ServeSafe Food Protection Manager Certification, accredited by the American National Standards Institute Conference for food protection. Please Note: The 2 days of training include a 1 day self study period prior to the actual training (book is given in advance). After that there is 1 day of lecture and testing with the instructor.

  • OSHA Forklift Certification Training - A 1-Day, 8 hour course preparing Veterans to obtain jobs in various warehouse positions. Classes are held every Saturday. Training curriculum includes: OASHA Regulations, Best Practices for Lifting, Moving & Carrying loads, Daily Operational & Functional Inspections & Tests, General Operating and Safety Best Practices, Hands-on Introduction to Forklift Units, Driving Tests for Hand / Eye Coordination and Functional Operation and the OSHA Forklift Certification Test.

  • Digital Literacy Class - A 15-Day course specifically designed for Veterans who have limited computer skills.  This introduction course provides essential skills needed to begin computing with confidence.
