VMC Finalist for Wawa Hero Award

VMC chosen as one of four finalists for the first-ever “Wawa Foundation Hero Award”.

This honor is to be given to non-profit organizations serving the greater Philadelphia area that assist others and help advance communities through preserving our freedom, protecting our safety, inspiring learning, and encouraging and empowering others to become better citizens and community members.

The winning organization will receive a $50,000 grant from The Wawa Foundation, and three runners-up will each receive $10,000 grant.

On Wednesday, June 15th, Wawa President and CEO Chris Gheysens announced the four finalists were selected among more than 300 submissions and asked for the public's assistance in determining the final selection.

Public voting will take place at www.TheWawaFoundation.org from Monday, June 20 to Wednesday, June 29. The winner will be announced during the morning ceremony on July 4th.

"I am the wife of a Viet Nam Veteran. My husband started going to PVMSEC 10 years ago for help. No mere words could ever express how much his life and in turn our family life has changed for the better in those years. I am and always will be grateful for the wonderful care he has received at the Philadelphia Veterans Multi-Service Center & Education Center."
